China protests Taiwanese MPs' India visit

Beijing likewise cautioned New Delhi to be mindful in managing Taiwan.

"China has encouraged India to respect its dedication to the One China approach and mindfully handle issues in regards to Taiwan," Chinese Remote Service representative Geng Shunag said.

India has a pledge on issues in regards to Taiwan, Xinhua news organization cited him as saying.

China thinks about Taiwan as a breakaway region, which it has pledged to rejoin sometime in the not so distant future. India is among the nations that have no discretionary ties with the self-ruled island.

"China has dependably been against any official contact amongst Taiwan and nations having strategic ties with China," the representative said.

Three Taiwanese officials are on a visit to India.

"We trust India regards and comprehends China's center concerns, adheres to the One China approach and legitimately handles issues with respect to Taiwan in an offer to keep up sound and stable development of China-India relations."
